In other action, city council approved a motion by Mayor Pro Tem Cedric Edwards to authorize a $104,000 two-year contract with San Antonio-based Selrico Services to serve lunches at the Schertz Area Senior Center.

The low-cost meals had been provided by the Community Council of South Central Texas of Seguin, but because Schertz has no formal contract with that non-profit group, city officials decided to issue a request for services. After a months-long selection process that included a taste test, Selrico was chosen. The senior center currently provides some 68 lunches each day, and Schertz expects that to grow to about 100 as center renovations are completed this summer.
